Four of the Best Hunting Options in Colorado

Elk Hunting in the Western Slope Colorado - Atha Team BlogWhen it comes to hunting there are few, if any, places better than Colorado. With game to hunt such as moose, deer, and elk, along with a number of other outdoor recreation activities to enjoy, you won’t be at a loss for things to do. You might even come across a mountain lion on your adventures down the Western Slope or along the Front Range. Here are four of the best areas for Colorado hunting.

Steamboat Springs

This area is among the best for hunting elk and other animals, and there are general hunting grounds just north of the town. There is plenty of brush territory along with mountainous scrub and water drainage areas. You’ll have a lot of options to choose from in this area.

Woodland Park

Sometimes this area gets crowded because so many hunters like it, but it’s also an excellent place for elk hunting. The vast expanses of land offer some difficult terrain in specific areas, but it’s well worth the effort for the quality of the hunting available.

West of Salida

This is a higher elevation hunting location, ranging between 7,000 and 14,000 feet and within the Rocky Mountains. If you choose this option for hunting, you’ll need to be prepared for some hiking, too. There are a lot of places where a vehicle can’t get to, and it’s better for experienced hunters.

Castle Rock

Hunting Deer in the Western Slope Colorado - Atha Team BlogAnother popular location, this territory has game available throughout. Some of the opportunities may be limited due to the number of people wanting to hunt there, so make sure you check on availability early.

The real estate around these areas in Colorado is among the best for any outdoor enthusiast who also loves to hunt. If you live in Colorado or just vacation there, you can see why people love to get out in nature and explore all of its wonders. With the high level of outdoor activity, living in Colorado can get you interested in hunting, fishing, and much more. Before you know it, you’ll be ready to buy a home in Colorado instead of seeing it as a vacation spot, so you can do more in nature on your days off.
