There are a lot of outdoor recreation options in Colorado, including swimming in the summertime. But if you don’t have a pool or you want to swim in nature, you can choose from the different swimming holes all around the state. Here are six of the most popular ones to pick from, depending on where you’re located and exactly what you’re looking for.
1) Jackson Lake
Up in Colorado’s northeast corner, this beautiful body of water is the only one around for miles. It’s man-made, and with sandy beaches and plenty of camping options, you can get lost in a great beach vacation that’s not far from your home.
2) Cherry Creek Reservoir
You don’t have to go far from Denver to get a lovely lake view. There’s an 880-acre reservoir here, along with a natural prairie and views of the Rocky Mountains. You can lay on the beach or even take a paddleboat out onto the beautiful blue water.
3) Paradise Cove
As an outdoor enthusiast, you can really appreciate places like Paradise Cove. Just outside of Colorado Springs, this is an excellent place for daredevils to enjoy jumping off cliff faces into deep pools of water. But take care, as this is a site where you swim at your own risk.
The whole family can have a great time at Boulder Creek. It’s close to Denver and you can swim, tube, and even fly fish here. Bring everyone together for a day out on the water.
5) Strawberry Park Hot Springs
A big part of living in Colorado is trying new things, and this hot spring can be a unique experience in both the summer and the winter months. People love the warmth in the winter, but that doesn’t mean this area goes ignored in the summer months.
6) Grand Lake
This is the largest and deepest natural lake in the state, and it’s nearly a mile wide and long. That makes it a great choice for bathing, boating, and sailing. Enjoying this lake is a popular option on a hot day.
Before you buy a home in Colorado, check out the swimming hole options close to the real estate you’re considering. You might find that the Front Range has more of what you’re looking for, or the Western Slope gives you more opportunities for the types of outdoor activity you really like. Either way, when you live in Colorado it can be fun to swim in the summer and enjoy the cool water and warm sunshine.
